  • Children's Mental Health week

    Children’s Mental Health Week will take place from 5-11 February 2024. The theme this year is ‘My Voice Matters’. My Voice Matters is about empowering children and young people by providing them with the tools they need to express themselves. As parents and carers, you play an important role in your child’s mental health. This year, we want to empower children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to work together to create a positive change for their mental health and wellbeing.   • PTA Bake Sale/Lottery

    Bring your cash, and purchase some amazing cakes!

    The PTA wish to thank those that take part in Your School Lottery. For as little as £1 a week you have the chance to win a weekly money prize as well as being entered into the national draw with extra prizes. This term it’s a Nintendo Switch bundle including a smart tv! Thanks to those that donate their winnings back to the school. For every £1 ticket you buy, 40p will be donated to the school and 36p will go towards a prize that must be won by someone supporting Dorney School. Good Luck 😀

  • Celebrating National Storytelling week

    Across school we have been delighted to welcome parents and family members who have given up their time to read stories to our children for National Storytelling Week. There were many opportunities for the children to compose and illustrate their own stories too. 

  • Year 5 Science

    Year 5 Science - Parachute Investigation 

     

    During our Science lessons, Year 5 have been learning about forces and carried out an investigation to test the effects of air resistance. We had a great time making our own parachutes testing different materials and sizes to see which would make the best parachute. Well done Year 5 for great scientific thinking and explanations!

     

  • Year 4 Science experiment

    Year 4 have been busy learning about States of Matter and this week we talked about how materials melt and solidify by changing the heat. We particularly enjoyed observing a change in state by measuring how long it took for a chocolate button to melt in hot, warm and cool water. Well done for working well in your teams Year 4!

  • Class of the month

    Reception Class was very excited to receive The Class of the Month Award for our hard work during Walk to School and Cycle to School Week. 

  • Year 4 Science topic

    In Year 4 we have been learning all about electricity for our Science topic and to show off what we have learnt we created our own buzz wire games! The children were very excited to play their games and have impressed with their knowledge of complete circuits, insulators and conductors.

  • National recycling week in Year 3

    This week is national recycling week so Year 3 have been learning all about why recycling is so important. Children learnt about the different materials that can be recycled as well as how to reduce our consumption by reusing what we already have. The children made information posters to show off what they had learnt as well as to inform others of the importance of recyling for the environment. Some children have chosen to enter their posters into Recycle Now's 'Big Recycling Hunt' competition!  

  • Year 5 - Science investigation

    Year 5 Science Investigation

    We have been learning about day and night and shadows. As a class we carried out an investigation to see what happened to the length of the shadow as the day progressed. Our results were very interesting and we could clearly see the changes in the shadow throughout the day!
