I am so thrilled with the feedback from Burnham Lions and the organisers of ROAR. The judges were so impressed by your children’s ideas and models that it took them a very long time to decide on commendations and the overall winner. In fact, Marilyn Rolfe would like us to work closely with them again in future projects. This letter from Marilyn says it all:
“I cannot stop thinking of the children and the wonderful work you have done with them. It is so pleasing to see everyone has got so much out of the project.
I have had confirmation that the competition will run next year at our next meeting I will get approval for this to be included in our sponsorship for 2022. I cannot wait, if I am honest, nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing children achieving great things. I am still thinking about the solar cooker, and have been telling my son in Singapore about it, he works for Interpol and most of their member countries are in areas where electricity is extremely difficult to achieve.
Thank you so much for your support.
Thank you to Mrs Barnard who organised this whole event over seven weeks. This is her report:
“Well, what a morning! Marilyn Rolfe and Steve Spencer from the Burnham Lions were extremely impressed with our project ROAR across the school. They thought the models on display were fantastic and that a lot of thought and work had gone into the production of them. They commented on the wide variety of ideas that the children had explored as a problem in the world and consequently their own solution to the problem.
Judging the finalists was an absolute pleasure. Our Dorney children did themselves proud by speaking clearly and knowledgeably about their model and the reasons behind their choices. We also enjoyed a range of superb posters and jingles to advertise the products.
